2024 Marine Corps Mud Run

Are you ready to get Muddy?

The 2024 version of the Marine Corps Mud Run features a 7K Distance Obstacle and Mud Run with multiple military themed obstacles, fitness stations, and MUD!

The Marine Corps Mud Run is open to the General Public with U.S. Citizenship with the following additional requirements for Non-Authorized Base Patrons:

  • One person in each vehicle MUST be pre-registered for the run and show proof of registration (paper or on phone) and a valid REAL ID or U.S. Passport to enter the base.
  • All adults in vehicle must show Real ID or U.S. Passport
  • Base access is ONLY through the Main Gate from 5am-11am.
  • After entry, participants will drive directly to the Mud Run parking areas with no deviation of the route and exit in a timely manner after the event ends.
  • All participants must also show a valid ID at check-in to receive your race number.

Please do not register for the run unless these requirements have been met. Patrons who do not have the proper paperwork and ID to enter Camp Pendleton will be turned away and no refund will be issued.

The Marine Corps Mud Run is a clear bag only venue. If you don’t have a clear bag, we will have complimentary drawstring clear bags available in all our parking areas.  

  • Bags must be clear plastic or clear vinyl and not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
  • Prohibited bags include but are not limited to large purses, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, or luggage of any kind.
  • The parking areas and venue will have extensive security measures to include bag search check points, military canine units, and undercover security personnel.

SCHEDULE
7:30am Runner Check-In, Venue, and Bag Check Open
8:30am Race Start Wave #1
Additional Waves start every 10-15 minutes

 
FEES
MCI-West Active Duty - $40 Military
Dependents/Retirees - $50
General Public - $65 Entry 
Fee includes, a fun and challenging 7K obstacle course & mud run, finisher medal, finish line refreshments, and venue activities (food booths, music, lawn games, vendor booths and more). 
Optional MCMR T-Shirt +$15
Additional T-Shirts may be available on race day for $20 (limited supplies/sizes)

Online registration opens Apr 9 at 9am
Online registration closes May 28 at 9am

Day-of registration taken if space available Fee is an additional $10

AGE LIMITS
Due to the difficulty and size of some obstacles, there is an age limit of 13+


GOODY BAG
All runners will receive a “Grab ‘n Go” goody bag as they finish the run filled with nutrition, hydration, and various sponsor items.


RULES

  • Absolutely no headphones/ear buds allowed.
  • Service and working dogs only in the venue.
  • No Strollers or dogs allowed on the course (due to rough terrain)
  • Event held rain or shine (unless deemed unsafe).
  • Pendleton Races has the right to modify the course if necessary for safety or base training exercises.
  • Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

 
MORE MUDDY INFO

  • There will be a bag check area for you to drop off your items while you run. Please note that MCCS Camp Pendleton is not responsible for lost or misplaced bags. We highly recommend leaving your valuables in your vehicle.
  • Post-race venue will include food trucks, lawn games, Hog Wash and Showers, sponsor booths, and our Hard Corps Store selling vintage race t-shirts and other Hard Corps Race Series items.

 
DIRECTIONS
Base Access via Main Gate:
Follow Vandegrift Road approximately 9 miles, stay in the left lane as you approach Rattle Snake Canyon Road.
Do NOT veer right up Rattlesnake Canyon, stay in the left lane for another mile and then turn left at Santa Margarita Road and follow “Event Parking” signs to access the participant parking areas.
 
Base Access via Pulgas Gate:
Take the Las Pulgas exit and head east towards the Las Pulgas gate.
Continue on Las Pulgas Rd until you reach Basilone Rd and turn Right.
At Vandegrift, turn left and stay in the left lane as you approach Rattle Snake Canyon Road. 
Do NOT veer right up Rattlesnake Canyon, stay in the left lane for another mile and then turn left at Santa Margarita Road and follow “Event Parking” signs to access the participant parking areas.
 
Base Access via San Luis Rey Gate:
Follow Vandegrift Rd approximately 4 miles, turn Right onto Santa Margarita Road and follow “Event Parking” signs to access the participant parking areas.
 

PARKING
Once in the Lake O’Neill area, please follow the Event Parking signs to the designated parking areas. Note that some parking lots may have up to a 1-mile walk to the venue.
