Summer Reading Program

The DOD-MWR Summer Reading Program is back for another summer to help families bridge the summer learning gap while inspiring literacy and lifelong learning. Adults and children can join in and record summer reading minutes from home.

Get your library card ready to unlock a summer filled with excitement, discovery, and a world of new stories waiting to be read. Join the Summer Reading Program and get ready to level up at your library.

This year, from June 10 to August 8, track your reading on Beanstack to earn your chance at the grand prize! (Hours must be logged by 11:59 PM on August 8, and participants must be present at the SRP closing party.)

Register today at the Library or on Beanstack.

Patrons are also encouraged to read Library books, books from home, or e-books and audiobooks that can be borrowed for free from the DoD MWR Digital Library. Make sure to log your reading minutes to earn prizes. Various events and activities will be hosted all summer, so be sure to check them out.

Reading Challenges

Baby/Toddler (Ages 0-2)
For every 200 minutes read, you can visit the Station Library to collect a prize! At 1,000 minutes, you will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize for your age group and receive a Reading Certificate. At 2,000 minutes, you will be entered for a second chance to win the grand prize and receive a small Gordon plushie. The reader with the most minutes will receive a big Gordon plushie.  

Early Reader (Ages 3-4)  
For every 200 minutes read, you can visit the Station Library to collect a prize! At 1,400 minutes, you will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize for your age group and receive a Reading Certificate. At 2,000 minutes, you will be entered for a second chance to win the grand prize and receive a small Gordon plushie. The reader with the most minutes will receive a big Gordon plushie.  

Children’s (Ages 5-12)
For every 300 minutes read, you can visit the Station Library to collect a prize! At 2,100 minutes, you will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize for your age group and receive a Reading Certificate. At 6,000 minutes, you will be entered for a second chance to win the grand prize and receive a Challenge Coin. The reader with the most minutes will receive a trophy.

Teen (Ages 13-17)  
For every 300 minutes read, you can visit the Station Library to collect a prize! At 2,100 minutes, you will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize for your age group and receive a Reading Certificate. At 6,000 minutes, you will be entered for a second chance to win the grand prize and receive a Challenge Coin. The reader with the most minutes will receive a trophy.  

Adult (Ages 18 & up)
For every 500 minutes read, you can visit the Station Library to collect a prize! At 2,000 minutes, you will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize for your age group and receive a Reading Certificate. At 6,000 minutes, you will be entered for a second chance to win the grand prize and receive a Challenge Coin. The reader with the most minutes will receive a trophy.
