Marines are known for answering the call to serve. That commitment doesn't end when the workday is over. Through your installation's Single Marine Program (SMP), volunteering is an opportunity to give back, build connections, develop new skills, and become a more engaged Marine and community member.

More Than Giving Back
Volunteering can support multiple areas of Marine Corps Total Fitness while building relationships and strengthening connection to the community. Whether you’re helping at a food drive, cleaning up a local beach, supporting an animal shelter, coaching youth sports, or serving with a local nonprofit, each experience offers a chance to contribute while building skills and perspective.

Serving others can also provide a sense of purpose and connection that supports resilience both on and off duty.

Building Skills. Lead. Connect.
Every volunteer opportunity is a chance to practice leadership. Organizing an event, working with a team, mentoring youth, or supporting a community organization can strengthen communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability.

SMP also gives Marines another way to lead. Through SMP councils, Marines can represent their units, raise quality-of-life concerns, collaborate with SMP staff and leadership, and help shape initiatives that affect single Marines.

Find Your Opportunity with SMP
SMP offers volunteer opportunities year-round, with options that can vary by installation, interest, schedule, and location. Opportunities may include community cleanups, food banks, animal shelters, youth sports, installation events, and other local organizations.

Whether you want to build leadership skills, meet other Marines, support your local community, or simply try something new, SMP can help you get involved.

Your time can make an impact. Your experience can build your potential.

Connect with your installation’s Single Marine Program to find volunteer opportunities and learn how you can get involved.
