Observed annually on the last Sunday in September, Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day honors the mothers and families of service members who gave their lives in service to our nation. The observance recognizes the enduring sacrifice of Gold Star families, whose strength, resilience, and connection to the Marine Corps continue long after the loss of their loved one. It is a day of remembrance, gratitude, and reflection.

For the Marine Corps, remembrance is more than an annual observance. It is a continuing responsibility to honor the service of our fallen Marines, preserve their legacy, and remain connected to the families who stood beside them throughout their military journey.
Standing with Gold Star Families
Gold Star mothers and families will always hold a special place within the Marine Corps community. Their sacrifice is part of our shared history, and their connection to the Corps does not end with the loss of their Marine.
Across the nation, military organizations, local communities, and survivor support programs observe Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day through ceremonies, remembrance events, and personal outreach. On this day, we honor the Marines we have lost, recognize the families who carry their memory, and reaffirm that their service and sacrifice will always be remembered.
