Reset the Standard: New Year, Same Mission of Dignity and Respect
As we enter the New Year, Marines are called to reaffirm their commitment to honor, courage, and commitment by upholding dignity and respect for every member of the Marine Corps family.
A critical part of that commitment is the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) program—our frontline defense against a threat that harms individuals, weakens unit cohesion, and undermines readiness.
Upholding Standards Starts with Each Marine
Preventing sexual assault requires honesty, accountability, and the courage to challenge harmful behaviors before they take root. Supporting survivors, intervening early, and fostering a climate of trust are essential responsibilities for every Marine.
Strengthening Marine Corps Total Fitness reinforces a culture of dignity and respect:
- Mental Fitness: Challenge harmful attitudes and embrace a zero-tolerance mindset.
- Physical Fitness: Be prepared to intervene and stand up for fellow Marines.
- Social Fitness: Build trust, encourage reporting, and create safe, supportive environments.
- Spiritual Fitness: Let honor, courage, and commitment guide your actions and decisions.
Every Marine Leads in the SAPR Mission
SAPR is not just a command responsibility—it’s an all-hands mission. Engage in awareness events, take SAPR training seriously, and model the values that safeguard our Corps. By holding ourselves and one another accountable, we ensure perpetrators are stopped, survivors are supported, and our units remain strong.
This New Year, recommit to protecting the dignity of every Marine. Together, we can strengthen our culture, uphold our values, and continue the mission of eliminating sexual assault from our ranks.
